Kids Love Coming Here
Dr. Clinton Callahan and the entire team in our Colorado Springs office go to great lengths to make sure all the kids and teens we treat enjoy their visits here. When you schedule a cleaning or other treatment for your child, you know we’ll use the latest advancements in children’s dentistry, delivered with thoughtful, compassionate care. We place high importance on teaching children how to take care of their teeth, from their first visit when they’re one year old and every step of the way until they reach adulthood.
Preventing Fear of the Dentist
We want to make sure the children we treat never grow up afraid to go to the dentist. We want them to see the dentist’s office as a relaxed, happy place that’s fun to visit. We’re always very pleased when our parents tell us we’re succeeding! Whether your child is active or shy, very young or a young adult, we’re here to provide for all of their needs.
A Lifetime of Good Oral Health
You probably took great care in choosing your child’s pediatrician, and rightly so. They will probably be caring for their medical needs for close to two decades. Deciding who will care for their oral health for that same amount of time is just as important. You want a dentist’s office focused on instilling good habits early, in an environment your child enjoys.
There are many factors that contribute to the risk of cavities in your children, no matter how young they might be. Small children with undeveloped motor skills have difficulty brushing well on their own, so we encourage parents to keep involved in their children’s daily dental care. Then you can be sure they are cleaning their teeth thoroughly and developing those important proper dental habits.
Another factor is the way little kids eat, tending to “graze” throughout the day. Every time you eat, acid is produced. This means frequent eating, even of healthy foods, can expose the teeth to more acid, which in turn increases the risk of cavities. When teeth aren’t clean enough, the risk is even higher. So Dr. Callahan and our team work to identify poor dietary and hygiene habits. along with applying a fluoride varnish to the remineralizing teeth, to significantly reduce the chance of your child having a cavity.
