See What We See with the Intra-Oral Camera
Teamwork is a vital aspect of Dr. Clinton Callahan’s practice, and a high-tech tool, the intra-oral camera, helps make this possible. We can use this miniature video camera right inside your child’s mouth, so you can see close-up images of their teeth and gums. Then if we have to recommend certain treatment, you can see exactly what is causing concern as well as which teeth look just fine. You’ll love how easy dental decisions become with this extra insight.
Reduce Radiation Exposure by 75%
We want you to be more concerned about protection from the Colorado Springs sunshine than about the possibility of exposure from dental X-rays. That’s why Dr. Clinton Callahan uses digital X-rays. We recommend bitewing X-rays once a year, with panoramic films taken every three years or so. The digital sensor takes the images of your child’s mouth and downloads them straight into the computer, where they’re available for immediate review. This method results in 75% less radiation than conventional X-rays. Images are available faster, and we avoid all the chemical waste that pollutes the environment.
Your Child’s Protection is Our Biggest Priority
To ensure your child’s health, we do more than follow the industry guidelines for instrument sterilization. Of course we clean and sterilize all instruments after every use, with a special unit called an autoclave. An independent lab regularly monitors this unit to make sure we meet the highest levels of safety and cleanliness. We also use single-use tools where needed. Your health is too important to us to take even the slightest risk.
Active Children = Broken Teeth? Not for Our Patients!
It’s estimated that 5 million teeth are knocked out each year in the United States alone. Many of these occur during sports and other activities that are so important to keeping kids healthy. We want to make sure our patients all have the proper protection during risky activities. You could buy a one-size-fits-all mouthguard in the store, but these don’t fit well enough for proper breathing during running. We offer our patients with permanent dentition free custom-made sports mouthguards. These fit well, protect well, and can be worn for sports such as soccer, baseball, basketball, football, and hockey.
